Privacy policy

This statement is to help you understand how and why I collect your personal data through this website and how I do it in accordance with GDPR, the regulations that cover data protection in the UK and Europe. You can read more about the GDPR here.

What data I collect

You have the option to leave your email address to sign up for monthly email updates from me. You have the option to opt out of these updates at any time, at which point I will delete your personal data from my records.

Third party data collection

This website is hosted by Squarespace, and I collect and store email addresses using their data storage. They store your data on secure databases protected via a variety of industry-standard access controls. You can read Squarespace’s privacy policy here.

I will not share email addresses with any other third parties.

Consent

I collect personal data based on your consent. When you leave your email, I take that as your consent consenting to receive my email updates. You are not consenting to have this data used for any other purpose, and I will seek clear consent if I ever wish to use your data for any other purpose

Contact me

You can contact me at any time regarding this privacy statement, or with a request to delete your personal data. My email address is eleanor@eleanorshearer.com.

More information on your rights

Under GDPR, individuals have certain rights in relation to their data. I want to be clear on how I am supporting these rights.

The right to be informed

I have created this statement to inform you of how I am using your data in a way that is concise and accessible. I will regularly review and, where necessary, update this privacy statement, including if I ever plan to use personal data for a new purpose. I will communicate any changes to you before starting any new processing.

The right of access

You can email me to request access to a copy of the personal data I hold about you, and I will respond to any such requests in a timely fashion.

The right to rectification

If you think the data I hold about you is inaccurate (for example, I have an old email address or someone has given me your email address by mistake), you can write to me by email and I will correct this in a timely fashion.

The right to erasure

You can write to me at any time and ask me to erase the personal data I hold about you. I will then delete your email address from my records.

The right to restrict processing

There are certain circumstances where you may wish for me to keep a record of your email but not to use it. For example, you may wish me to keep a copy in order for you to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. You have the right to request that I no longer send you email updates but still keep a copy of your personal data if you would prefer this to total erasure.

The right to data portability

The only data I collect is your email address, so I will always provide this data to you, on request, in a format that is easy to read. You also have the right to request that I transfer this data to another controller, if you should ever wish.

The right to object

I require your consent to send you email updates, which is a form of direct marketing. You therefore have the right at any time to opt-out. If you do so, I will stop sending you any emails.
